Paul felt relieved as he closed the door behind him. The afternoon’s events were imprinted in his mind as if someone had pressed them with a hot iron. The other passengers in the train had ample composure,  judging bythe way they handled the situation. No panic. They reacted as anyone with common sense should. A shudder ran through his spine. What would have happened if  Paul had been the epileptic? Would the red-haired man had pulled out his belt? Would there be anyone to hold him while he seized? Another shudder – He couldn’t bear the thought of being the one with no self-control.

Paul rubbed his hands over his thighs, trying to dispel the numbness that had gripped them. He then felt a goey substance on his fingers and noticed a patch of vomit half-dried over the navy blue fabric. He bolted towards the bathroom and washed his hands before being overwhelmed by nausea. Great, now he had a physical souvenir besides the memory of what happened in the train. Paul stripped off his clothes and tossed them into a corner. Puke or no puke, he had to change. The reason for his visit laid open on the bedside table, a few words printed on the surface.

“Meeting at Nino’s, 7 o’clock. Don’t be late.”

He sighed as he got in the shower. He hated the way he was sent over to different places as he were a marionette waiting for its strings to be pulled. He finished showering and pulled on a clean suit. He left the small hostel, igniting a cigarette on his way out.

Paul reached the crowded street and searched for a cab, wondering about what new subject he had to dispatch. A small knot of commuters were gathered around a street musician. The sound of applause reached his ears as he spotted a free cab and hailed it, waving his hand energetically. The taxi driver pulled over a few meters away from Paul. He walked towards it, throwing the cigarette down and not noticing the shadow that had detached itself from the crowd and now followed him closely.

Paul was already pulling the taxi door open when something heavy collided with his skull. He tried to turn around and face the agressor, but he only met darkness...and he knew no more.
Oh yes yes yes, I finally finished my chapter. :D It's a bit lame, probably, I have no talent for conjuring mysterious creatures, but still, it's fun to participate.
